West 13th Kitsilano
This 1945 Kitsilano bungalow was completely renovated in 2009. The current owners were inspired by Spanish Architectural firm A-cero All the walls were taken down to create an open plan space and window wells were added to maximize natural light. The kitchen is by Meson’s and is comprised of a 14 foot long island in a combination of wood and glass doors with a Nikron countertop including integrated double sink, integrated dishwasher and gas cook-top. The 18 foot run of towers were done in a glossy white lacquer finish and contain two integrated Gaggenau refrigerator/freezers, Gaggenau built in coffee maker, two Gaggenau convection ovens and one Gaggenau Steam oven and wine fridge. There is also a stackable Miele washer and dryer. The clients wanted to maximize the functionality of their home, combining everything they needed into 1,100 Square Feet.

The home was a rental property for over 25 years and was in dire need of a complete overhaul. The sink wall was changed to a run of towers. The sink, dishwasher and gas cook-top were moved to the island.
The window was closed off and an 18 foot run of towers was installed. The sink and plumbing was moved to the island and includes a double sink, dishwasher and gas cook-top.
The back end of the house was very small, dark and cramped. A 100 square foot addition was constructed to make way for a beautiful 14 foot kitchen island and tall window wall.
A 100 square foot addition was constructed at the back of the house with 14 foot ceilings. All the walls were taken down to create an open plan concept. Window wells were added to allow for much needed natural light. Sliding glass doors allow for easy access to a beautiful outdoor patio.
